Travelling Interstate To Perth Hills For A Workshop

Are you thinking about travelling interstate to do a workshop with me? If so here is some handy information to give you some ideas including where my studio is located.

My studio is on the escarpment in Regdel Road, Lesmurdie WA.  I am a short walk from the gorgeous Lesmurdie Falls National Park and only about 20 mins drive from the domestic airport.  Lesmurdie is about 25 mins from Perth city.

I highly recommend staying up in the hills rather than down closer to the airport not only for the convenience, but also for the ambience.

The Perth Hills area, is more like a village than a suburb, and its well worth considering when looking at accommodation. On a flat map you cant see the geographic difference but when here its very obvious. The views are stunning in places, and the breezes better and there are amazing bush walks very close as you will see on my little map below.

There are many gorgeous and affordable places to stay very close to my studio, on  Air BnB, some of them only 5 minutes walk and the local IGA shops are about the same. We can even pick you up and drop you off for your days if its close saving you getting taxis, which is sometimes a bit slow. You would only need to take a cab from the airport to your accommodation. Having to travel up the hill every day by cab, may be false economy.

Far below is a screen shot I took off AirBnB when I searched for accommodation in Lesmurdie. I have typed in red in the location of my studio, and that of some nearby B&B's. Many offer you the whole place!  These prices were for 3 nights in November, (about $100 a night) which would give you a nice window either side of your 2 day workshop.

Lesmurdie Falls below, and don't forget, the mind boggling wildflowers which are blooming for months from late winter through spring. I can give you a mud map of the walks in the area if you stay nearby.

If you are worried about how to get your painting/s home if travelling on the plane, we can pack them up for you and ship them back, for a very low cost. (1x1 mt to most places in the east would cost you about $30-$40) Some more remote locations in outback QLD or NSW may be a bit more. Because I have an option for you to have all materials supplied, you could also travel over without having to drag painting gear!

Its a gorgeous area, and that is why I live here - a little special secret for we hill dwellers :-)  Just drop me an email if you have any other questions and I can help you work things out. I love occasionally travelling east to do workshops, and I am delighted you might be considering it too.

In the future I will be looking at creating a longer workshop - such as 5 days so this makes it really worthwhile making the trip over.

Kalamunda (you could catch the local bus) is a 7 minute drive away and has the Zig Zag Cultural art centre (always an exhibition on), the History Village, a lovely bundle of cafes, and plenty more.
