Norton Gallery

Norton Gallery (Formerly Cockatoo Gallery)

Helen Norton first opened her own studio gallery (Cockatoo Gallery) in Broome in 1988. This later evolved into the Cockatoo Gallery Shop in Chinatown Broome.  Another venue was opened in Perth in 2000.  The shop focused mainly on prints and limited editions.  It formed a good conduit for the public to access Helen's works on a daily basis and for Helen to receive the very important direct feedback from clients that an artist owned commercial outlet provides.

Despite its isolation, the Broome gallery was a great window upon the world for Helen as an artist.  Her work gained notoriety quickly due to the amazing diversity of national and international visitors to Broome in the early nineties.  Travellers would take their Norton artwork back to their respective homes around the world and thus many seeds of interest and opportunity were planted including exhibitions in London, Colorado and on board the QE2.

From 2002 Cockatoo Gallery operated for 5 years at Market St Fremantle WA. Other locations have been at Phillimore st Fremantle, Eumundi, QLD,  Montville QLD and South Terrace in South Fremantle.

More recently Norton Gallery opened for 2 years in Kalamunda from 2014 until 2016.

We no longer have an outlet direct to the public for walk in purchases. We have moved the studio workshop to Helen's private studio in the Perth Hills.  You can buy directly from the artist through the studio. Visits are strictly by appointment only, and you can arrange this by calling us on 0488 015 978 or dropping us an email to

Norton Gallery is the fine art publisher of Helen Norton limited editions and prints.
