While these men in their white coats, (scientists and doom speculators), stand on the pillars of society they busy themselves with their own important doom in their very small world of being concerned with potential catastrophes of natural and man made cause.  Usually of the physical scale of nuclear war or a natural disaster like an exploding meteorite hitting earth.

Whilst they are busying themselves with this, what ends up toppling them is a far more sinister factor.  Their own belief system, or “grail”.  The red ball again.  This limited belief system may be a religion, a system, or anything that does not allow for growth and change or chaos natural.
